Most-compared B2B SaaS tools
Ranked by distinct rivals — how many different tools each one is actually evaluated against, after pages covering the same matchup twice are collapsed into one. Website builders and marketing platforms sit at the centre of the widest webs of buyer research. Ties share a rank.

Where SaaS buyers compare most — the 10 largest clusters
Comparison demand by software category. Email marketing & CRM draws the most head-to-head research — the category where switching costs bite and the choice actually changes the business.
These 10 clusters cover 34 of the 49 comparisons in this study. The bars are not meant to add up to the headline: 15 comparisons sit outside them — either in a smaller cluster than the 10 shown, or in no cluster at all, because a matchup is only assigned to one when its tools clearly belong there.
Challenger vs incumbent
For each rivalry a challenger was built to win, we counted the distinct rivals both sides are actually weighed against. A challenger facing the wider field is a leading signal of a shifting market. 1 of 2 challenger does so, HubSpot by the widest margin — 3 distinct rivals to Salesforce's 1. The other 1 is level.
- CRMOut-pacing
HubSpot faces 2 more distinct rivals.
- Website buildersLevelWix2
Both face 2 distinct rivals — no gap in our data.
Tied rows are published deliberately. A cut that shows only the challengers that are ahead would report an upset in every category it looked at, whether or not one exists.
Methodology
We took every published comparison in the software vertical on A Versus B as of July 29, 2026 — 49 head-to-head SaaS pages — and reduced them to rivalries before counting anything. A page count is not a rivalry count: we publish some matchups in both directions (Notion vs ClickUp and ClickUp vs Notion are one rivalry, not two), and a few tools exist in our database under more than one entry. Each matchup is normalised to an order-insensitive pair and counted once.
A tool’s score is its number of distinct rivals — the other tools it is actually evaluated against, not the pages it appears on. Ties share a rank; where the leaders tie, we say so rather than picking one. The leaderboard counts B2B software only: programming languages and frameworks are excluded, and so are web browsers, database engines and consumer streaming services — all of which our database types as “software”, and none of which is a tool a software buyer is choosing between. Category clusters are assigned by keyword-matching each comparison’s tools to our software subcategories (CRM, project management, AI tools, and so on); the ten largest are charted, and they are not expected to sum to the corpus.
Rival counts are taken across our whole catalog, not just the software vertical. How many rivals a tool is compared against is a fact about the tool, and it must not change because of how we happened to file a page: ClickUp vs Jira and Jira vs Monday are filed under consumer products, and counting only the software vertical made Jira look like it faced a single rival when it faces three. The challenger vs incumbent cut compares those catalog-wide counts for each rivalry, and publishes the result whichever way it falls — including the 1 of 2 that come out level. Data is refreshed daily from our live database.
Figures shown reflect live data as of page generation.
