Frequently Asked Questions
- What are the A Versus B data studies?
- A Versus B data studies are original research reports built from our database of 276 published comparison pages. Each study reveals which brands, SaaS tools, and products consumers research most frequently, backed by our own comparison corpus rather than surveys.
- Can I cite or republish findings from A Versus B data studies?
- Yes. All A Versus B data studies are published under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license. You can freely cite, quote, and republish findings as long as you credit A Versus B and include a link back to the original study URL.
- What methodology does A Versus B use for its data studies?
- Each study is built from our internal database of structured head-to-head comparison pages. Before counting anything we reduce those pages to rivalries: a matchup published in both directions (Netflix vs Disney+ and Disney+ vs Netflix) is one rivalry, brands that exist under more than one database entry are merged, and pages comparing three or more things are excluded from head-to-head figures. A brand's score is then its number of distinct rivals — the brands it is actually matched against — not the number of pages it appears on. Rankings show ties rather than naming a single winner, because rival counts are sensitive to how finely each market is modelled in our catalog. All figures are counts of published comparison content; we do not publish traffic or readership numbers.
- What topics do the current A Versus B data studies cover?
- Current studies cover B2B SaaS comparison trends (48 comparison pages analyzed), the most-compared brands of 2026 (276 comparison pages ranked), and investing & finance products (15 finance comparison pages). Counts are read live from our database and grow as we publish. New topics are added as the corpus grows.
- How often does A Versus B publish new data studies?
- New studies are published periodically — typically when enough comparison data accumulates to support statistically meaningful insights, or when major market shifts create a timely research opportunity. Subscribe to the A Versus B newsletter to be notified when a new study is published.
